For all the hype around Leeds United’s first-team this season, it’s easy to forget that the Whites have one of the most talented loan armies of any team in the country.
Indeed, many of the Whites’ young prospects are now shining out on loan, be it Mateusz Bogusz out in Spain, Alfie McCalmont across the Pennines in Oldham or Bryce Hosannah just down the road at Bradford, a number of Leeds’ loan players have earnt plaudits this season.
However, perhaps the one United fans should be the most excited about is Robbie Gotts.
Gotts has enjoyed two loan spells this season at both Lincoln and Salford City, and it’s fair to say that he’s been shining in the Football League.
Gotts has earned plaudits from fans and coaches alike, with former Salford boss Richie Wellens giving him all sorts of praise back in February.
“On the press he is excellent, a typical Bielsa player,” Wellens told the Evening Express.
“We are going to improve him for free, that’s why Leeds have loaned him to us. We think he has a real chance to go all the way.”
That’s very high praise for a young player, but what’s even more impressive is the versatility Gotts has shown this season.

The youngster is naturally a central midfielder, but this term he’s played in no fewer than six different positions according to WhoScored, ranging from right-back to left-midfield.
Gotts is an excellent presser, a hard worker and he’s versatile to boot, which is exactly what Bielsa looks for in a player.
In fact, those are arguably the three most important attributes we’ve seen this season from the man who is in with a shout to be named as Leeds’ Player of the Season, Stuart Dallas.
Gotts works hard, he’s full of energy and he can play in midfield, on the wing and at full-back. In our view, it sounds as though he could be the second coming of Dallas at Leeds, and as long as Bielsa gets to work in refining the finer points of his game, he could have a real gem on his hands here.
Fingers crossed Gotts can come in and make an impact at Leeds in the coming years.
