Leeds United fell to defeat on Friday night, losing 1-0 away at Wolverhampton Wanderers in a disappointing loss.

The Whites were unlucky with the nature of the winning goal, as Adama Traore’s strike smashed against the woodwork and ended up in the net off Illan Meslier’s back.

Leeds just couldn’t find a leveller, but one player who did turn in a fine performance was winger Raphinha, as he again provided quality throughout.

The wide man racked up six key passes, four interceptions, four clearances, three successful dribbles, a shot on target and a tackle won in an outstanding display.

This is becoming the norm for Raphinha; his displays have been nothing short of sensational of late, becoming one of the Premier League’s most dangerous wingers.

Leeds paid just £17million to sign him from Rennes back in October, and that increasingly looks like being an unbelievable bargain.

Teammate Tyler Roberts has now told The Sunday Mirror (21/02, p64) that he thinks Raphinha is a ‘steal’ and would now be worth a lot of money.

Roberts noted that he has seen real Brazilian flair from Raphinha in training, but also hailed his work ethic and feels that Leeds are lucky to have him on board at Elland Road.

“I think Raphinha’s definitely a steal,” said Roberts. “In training you can just see straight away he’s a typical skilful Brazilian player. But his worth ethic as well is outstanding and it goes so well in our team. We are lucky to have him and I think he’s worth a lot of money.”

“He’s definitely a great player and I enjoy working with him and playing with him,” he added.
