Leeds United beat West Bromwich Albion 4-0 on Friday night.
Leeds United forward Tyler Roberts has told the Daily Mail that he was pleased to show former club West Bromwich Albion just how much he’s improved at Elland Road.
The Whites went into Friday’s game against the Baggies needing a big result, having lost at out-of-form Queens Park Rangers in midweek.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side laid down a real marker inside 20 seconds as Pablo Hernandez fire Leeds in front, before Patrick Bamford made it 2-0 before the break.
West Brom couldn’t recover and went 3-0 down when Bamford’s deflected strike beat Sam Johsntone, and it got even worse as Ezgjan Alioski tapped in from close-range to seal a 4-0 win.
Leeds temporarily went top of the league with that win before Norwich beat Millwall on Saturday, and will be hoping that Sheffield United don’t win on Monday night against Sheffield Wednesday in order to keep second spot.
One of the key players for Leeds on Friday night didn’t get on the scoresheet, but caused West Brom all manner of problems; forward Roberts.
The Welshman has recently dropped into a number 10 role, and was outstanding as he terrorised West Brom, the club who sold him to Leeds in January 2018.
Now, Roberts has admitted that it felt great to play so well against his former club, and believes he showed them just how much Leeds have improved him over the last year.
“It all came together and it showed with the result,” said Roberts. “To get a good performance against my old team was pleasing to show how much I have come on and how much Leeds have improved me,” he added.
