Tyler Roberts became Leeds United’s most eye-catching signing on transfer deadline day signing from West Bromwich Albion.

Tyler Roberts has told the Yorkshire Evening Post that he is looking to make an immediate impact in the first-team after sealing his move to Leeds United on transfer deadline day, while he also took to Twitter to comment on the Elland Road switch.

Roberts became the Whites’ marquee signing on Wednesday, with the Yorkshire Evening Post reporting that the Championship side spent an initial £2.5 million on the teenager who was heading into the final months of his contract at West Bromwich Albion.

With the Leeds hierarchy coming in for plenty of criticism this season for focusing so much attention on signing players for the under-23 side, there may be some concern regarding Roberts as, while he will surely head straight into Thomas Christiansen’s squad, there is still a sense that he is also one for the future.

But Roberts insisted that he feels that he is ready to go straight into the first-team and make an impact as they look to get themselves right back into the play-off mix after a poor run of form.

“I’ve adapted to each club and I think I’ve got better as well. I’m ready to come into the Championship and show what I’m about,” he said, as reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post.

“I’d like to think I can go straight into the first team and have an impact. Of course it’s not about me, it’s about the team and me being able to gel with them, but I can’t wait to get into training.”

And after the signing was completed, the 19-year-old commented on the move on social media. And after expressing his gratitude to the Baggies, he alluded to his excitement about his upcoming spell at Leeds.

With Roberts coming into a Leeds side that failed to put a shot on target during their most recent game – against a team that is currently outside on the bottom three only on goal difference – the Leeds fans will be pleased that he feels that he is ready to make a difference for the first-team.

But with the 19-year-old the only addition the club made to their first-team attack over the month, there will definitely be a bit of pressure on Roberts to hit the ground running, especially with some daylight starting to emerge between the Whites and the top six.
