Tyler Roberts comments on Leeds United teammate Kemar Roofe

Leeds United striker Kemar Roofe is on the sidelines at the moment.

Leeds United striker Tyler Roberts has told The Yorkshire Evening Post that the return to action of his teammate Kemar Roofe will be a massive boost for the club.

Roofe, who can operate as a striker or as a winger, has been on the sidelines since mid-February after injuring knee ligaments.

Leeds head coach Marcelo Bielsa told The Yorkshire Evening Post at the weekend that the 26-year-old will be back in training this week.

This means that the former West Bromwich Albion prospect could feature for the Whites in their Championship game against Birmingham City away from home on Saturday afternoon.

Roberts, who can operate as a striker, winger or attacking midfielder, is looking forward to return to action of his Leeds teammate Roofe.

Roberts told The Yorkshire Evening Post: “That (Roofe’s comeback) will be a massive bonus for the boys and I think the fans as well.

“It’ll give an extra buzz to the place and it’ll be good for all of us to be back together. We know we’ve got people on the bench and people on the field who can change games.”

Roofe has been on the books of Leeds since the summer of 2016 when he joined from Oxford United for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £3 million.

The 26-year-old striker has made 26 appearances in the Championship for the West Yorkshire outfit so far this season, scoring 14 goals and providing two assists in the process, according to WhoScored.
