Tyler Roberts had an ice pack on his shin after Leeds United’s latest pre-season game.

Tyler Roberts has told the Yorkshire Evening Post that the ice pack on his shin following Leeds’ draw with Southend on Sunday was simply a precaution in comments that are bound to prove a relief to Whites fans. He also paid tribute to the supporters who attended the game.
Signed for £2.5 million in January, Roberts has endured a fairly miserable time since arriving at Elland Road, with the Yorkshire Evening Post reporting that he sustained a shin injury in his first training session with the club.
He finally got the chance to play for Leeds for the first time as they travelled to Roots Hall at the weekend, coming on as a second-half substitute for Laurens De Bock against the League One side.
It may have been a source of concern for the Leeds fans that Roberts quickly had an ice pack applied to his previously injured shin following the full-time whistle, but the 19-year-old has insisted that there is little to be worried about regarding his fitness.

“My shin feels fine. I didn’t feel anything throughout the game and (the ice pack) is just a precaution to keep on top of it. I felt good. This is my biggest season yet coming up and I’m very excited for it. I can’t wait to get started.”

Roberts is still an unproven talent, but it will undoubtedly be a huge boost for Leeds if they manage to get him playing regularly during the coming campaign, especially as Marcelo Bielsa hardly has a lot of options to choose from in the final third.
And after such a lengthy absence following what has be to considered a big-money move by Leeds’ standards – he is certainly one of their most expensive acquisitions since 2004 – Roberts will desperate to build his match sharpness in the coming weeks and prove a point once the Championship season kicks off next month.
