Leeds United youngster Tyler Denton has explained on the club’s official website the importance of signing a new contract.

Denton has committed his long-term future to Leeds by putting pen to paper on a new three-year deal, as announced on the West Yorkshire club’s official website on Friday.

The 20-year-old full-back’s original deal was set to run out next summer, as stated on Leeds’s official website.

The new contract means that the former England Under-17 international will remain at Elland Road until at least 2019.

Denton has explained the importance of signing a new deal with Leeds, stating that it gives him more stability and something to build on.

The English youngster has also stated that he is ready to step in for Charlie Taylor at left-back anytime he is called upon.

“I signed a one-year deal at the start of the season and it was an incentive to do better things and keep trying to impress the gaffer,” Denton told Leeds’s official website. “This new contract now gives me a stable footing and gives me something to build on.

“I don’t want Tuesday night to be the be all and end all – I want to carry on doing good things for Leeds United. The experience on Tuesday will do me good but the hard work starts now.

“My next chance will come when it comes. I’ve got great trust in Charlie (Taylor) as he’s a great player, but I’ll be prepared if my chance comes.”

Denton is a talented and promising young player, and the new contract is only going to enhance his confidence.

Leeds head coach Garry Monk seems to have been impressed with the youngster, and perhaps as the season progresses, the left-back will feature quite regularly in the first team.

Denton has been included in the EFL Cup Team of the Round for his performance for Leeds against Luton Town away from home in the second round of the competition on Tuesday evening.
