Around this time two years ago Leeds United were going through the mill. Neil Redfearn was in interim charge of the first-team amid plenty of controversy behind the scenes involving Massimo Cellino.

One of the only shining lights at the time was Alex Mowatt.

On the 7th March 2015, he scored the winning goal in a game against Wigan Athletic. It came just three days after he scored against Ipswich Town, and was his fourth goal in a six-game spell – which also included winners v Millwall and Middlesbrough.

Fast forward two years and Mowatt is gone.

Mowatt was Leeds Player of the Year back in the 2014-15 season, but wasn’t able to sustain his good run of form. This season he had been used sparingly by Garry Monk.

Leeds sold Mowatt to Yorkshire rivals Barnsley for a fee reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post to be in the region of £500,000 back in January.

Mowatt made his debut for Barnsley on 31st January. He was sent off just before half time. He has made two league appearances since.
