The Tottenham Hotspur stopper is now the proud owner of a World Cup winner’s medal.
Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris is widely considered to be one of the best stoppers on the planet, and now he has a World Cup winner’s medal to show for his efforts.
Despite making a high-profile error in the final, the Frenchman was still one of the best goalkeepers at FIFA’s showpiece tournament in Russia this summer.
And two of his teammates were effusive in their praise of the 31-year-old.

Michel Vorm and Paulo Gazzaniga both spoke to the club’s official website, and raved about the quality of Spurs’ number one.
Vorm, 34, said:
“It’s amazing and I’m so pleased for him. He was very disappointed after the final at the last Euros so, two years later, to win the World Cup is amazing. Hugo is very focused and is someone who can deal with that type of pressure. One mistake happened (in the final) but for me he was one of the best keepers of the whole World Cup and he can look back at an amazing tournament.”
Whilst Gazzaniga chipped in with praise for Lloris too:
“I texted him last night after the match. I’m very happy for him and very proud of him. He’s an example for everyone here. All the goalkeepers here are delighted. He’s showed once again that he’s a top goalkeeper, a top professional and a very good guy. It’s difficult to have all those characteristics in one person but Hugo has everything and that’s why I’m happy for him.”
One criticism of Tottenham in recent years has been their lack of winners in the squad, but with Lloris now a world champion, Mauricio Pochettino’s side will surely receive a massive boost from a psychological perspective.
Many believe that Spurs should be making a real push for the Premier League title this season, and Pochettino will be hoping that Lloris’ good vibes will rub off on the rest of his squad when he returns to training this summer.
