Sepp Van den Berg has been pictured in first-team training ahead of Liverpool’s long-awaited return to Premier League action against Merseyside rivals Everton this weekend, as provided by the club’s official website.

What better time to make your top-flight debut for a new club.

On Sunday, Liverpool will make the short trip to Goodison Park, safe in the knowledge that a win at the home of their old enemies will put Jurgen Klopp’s side within just three points of the Premier League title.

But could a Dutch teenager snapped up for a bargain £2.7 million play his part in a game which could go down in folklore at one of the most historic clubs in European football?

With top-flight clubs permitted to make five substitutions in each game between now and the end of the season, Van den Berg will more than likely be handed an opportunity to impress in the next month or so – even if the Everton clash might come a little too soon.

The former PEC Zwolle starlet has not been included in the matchday squad for any of Liverpool’s 29 games so far but that should change sooner rather than later.

Interestingly, Yasser Larouci has also been put through his paces by Klopp this week.

And with Andy Robertson lacking any sort of cover at left-back, perhaps the only position in Liverpool’s squad in which they are a little short of options, a top-flight debut could be coming his way too.
