Iain Dowie and Charlie Nicholas have offered some transfer advice to Celtic.
Pundits Iain Dowie and Charlie Nicholas offered some transfer advice to Celtic during Tuesday’s episode of Sky Sports’ Soccer Special.
Celtic impressed with their Champions League display on Tuesday, coming from a goal down to pick up a 1-1 draw away at Borussia Monchengladbach thanks to Moussa Dembele’s second-half penalty.

The Bhoys are unlikely to make it into the knockout stages of the Champions League, but they could claim third place in Group C and subsequent qualification into the Europa League, whilst the performance itself suggested that Celtic are making considerable progress under Brendan Rodgers.
Fans will be hoping that Celtic continue to grow and develop under Rodgers, and having such a highly rated, proven manager means that Celtic may be more willing to splash the cash in the transfer market.
The Bhoys backed their new manager during the summer transfer window, snapping up goalkeeper Dorus De Vries, full back Cristian Gamboa, defender Kolo Toure, winger Scott Sinclair and striker Moussa Dembele too boost Rodgers’ options.

Now, ahead of the January transfer window, pundits Charlie Nicholas – formerly of Celtic – and Ian Dowie have both offered transfer advice to Celtic during Tuesday’s episode of Sky Sports’ Soccer Special.
Dowie suggested that Celtic need to spend around £5m to £6m on talented young players at th level of striker Dembele, stating that the Bhoys should be looking to develop players under Rodgers.

Nicholas added that Celtic made a real statement by pushing the boat out for winger Sinclair, and the Bhoys should continue to try and add ‘a little bit of stardust’ to their team, stating that their transfer business under Rodgers has been impressive so far.
“Look at what they’ve done with Dembele, they’ve gone and grabbed a lad who has maybe got potential to be a very big player, and go and buy a couple of good young players like Dembele for £5m or £6m and develop them,” said Dowie.
“An example for a start is Sinclair,” Nicholas added. “They’ve raised the bar for his wages, they’ve got a bit of extra money, he’s a guy who was struggling in the Premier League – it’s a start. It’s moving it up, you don’t need 25 players in Scotland, you need 16 players. Add a little bit of stardust in one or two, and all of a sudden you’re starting to get a real interesting team. It’s good so far.”
