Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has been linked with a potential move to Arsenal as questions continue to be asked about Arsene Wenger.

Celtic's head coach Brendan Rodgers talks during a press conference in Brussels on September 26, 2017 on the eve of the Champions League group B) football match against RSC Anderlecht.

According to a report from the Daily Mirror towards the end of last month, Brendan Rodgers is one of the names that is in the frame if Arsenal decide to part company with Arsene Wenger at the end of the season.

The Mirror reports that Wenger’s position at the Emirates is set to be reviewed this summer ahead of the final year of his contract. And it seems fair to say that if most fans get their way, Wenger’s days at the club are currently numbered.

Arsene Wenger manager

Whether the idea of Rodgers potentially replacing him will fill them with much more optimism is unclear, but there will be some who point to the work that he did at Liverpool and continues to do at Celtic as a reason to seriously consider him for the post.

Like all managers who move from club to another, Rodgers – if given the chance with the Gunners – may perhaps be tempted to think about some of the players that he has worked with previously when he considers potential targets. And while Arsenal fans should probably not expect Scott Brown to come onto their radar if Rodgers moves, perhaps there a couple of Celtic starlets who may become Gunners targets if the Premier League side make the appointment…

Kieran Tierney

If Celtic can hold onto Kieran Tierney for the duration of his current contract, it would arguably be a fantastic piece of business from the Hoops as he is already a star for club and country. Capable of playing anywhere in the defence, but mainly at left-back, Tierney has been a rock for the Bhoys since emerging into the team. The 20-year-old does not seem capable of putting in anything worse than a 7/10 performance and is someone that plenty of Scotland fans want to see given the armband following Scott Brown’s retirement.

Kristoffer Ajer

While Tierney moving to the Premier League seems inevitable at some stage, Kristoffer Ajer heading south seems to be more of a wildcard suggestion. Ajer struggled during his first year at Parkhead but is arguably now Celtic’s best-performing centre-back. Like Tierney, he is young enough to get significantly better, and provides plenty of versatility. If he can improve at the rate that he has done over the past couple of months, there will surely soon be a queue of Premier League sides eyeing a move.
