Spurs and Everton have long been linked with a move for attacker Zaha.
Wilfried Zaha has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur for much of Mauricio Pochettino’s reign at Spurs, and they are now said to be rivalling Everton for his signature – but Zaha has been urged to stay by two Crystal Palace teammates.
The Daily Mail claim former Manchester United winger Zaha could become Spurs’ first signing of the summer this week, while Goal claims Everton are preparing a £50million offer for the star.
The Ivory Coast international was excellent for Roy Hodgson’s Palace last season, scoring nine goals and turning provider a further five times during 29 Premier League appearances.
A move to Spurs is on the cards then, but Palace stars Joel Ward and Jeffrey Schlupp have been quoted by Goal.com as urging the wing wizard to remain at Selhurst Park beyond the summer transfer window’s deadline.
Ward said: “We all know how important he is for us and we’d love to keep him and that’s what we need. We need Wilf to lead the line of attack because he has done that time and time again for us and he’s a key part of this squad.”
Schlupp said: “Wilf is Wilf and he’s got the X-Factor. He’s irreplaceable. Every time he goes out on the pitch, he does his bit and it’s great to have him in the team.”
Spurs boast plenty of attacking talent, with Son Heung-min, Erik Lamela, Christian Eriksen, Lucas Moura and Moussa Sissoko used as options out wide. But Pochettino is a long-term admirer of Zaha.
Everton are reportedly closing in on a move to sign Richarlison from Watford, but with doubts over the future of Ademola Lookman and Yannick Bolasie, they could be keen to nab his signature.
