Tottenham Hotspur’s activity is relatively low key heading into the final weeks of the transfer window.

Tottenham Hotspur’s impressive season last campaign has meant there was no need to rip up plans and start again, which has led to a relatively low key summer compared to the likes of Manchester United and Manchester City.
Mauricio Pochettino alluded to the ‘desperation’ of these clubs in his press conference last week, but Tottenham themselves may want to ask if they are doing enough.
So far they have fixed their most pressing needs, a new striker in Vincent Janssen, and the acquisition of a top defensive midfielder, Victor Wanyama, fixing the depth which was clearly lacking when Mousa Dembele was missing at the end of last season.

Two more signings are likely; winger Georges-Kevin N’Koudou, and back up goalkeeper Pau Lopez.
SkySports yesterday reported a deal for N’Koudou is ‘back on’, while Spanish newspaper Sport report a loan deal to sign Lopez is close.
Both signings are important, Lopez especially to help strengthen the club’s options with Hugo Lloris recently suffering an injury, and N’Koudou is at a position Spurs tried to improve last summer with Clinton N’Jie only for it not to work out as planned.

These two signings will be positive, but whether they are enough remains to be seen.
Tottenham can be pleased with their strengthening, but they are lacking a marquee name, whose arrival would catapult them into the category of being title favourites.
Spurs may prefer to go under the radar, but last season they came up short when it came to winning the league and even finishing above Arsenal, and many are tipping the same outcome for them this season.
A show of ambition by adding another stellar signing in addition to Lopez and N’Koudou would help the feel good factor at the club, whether that be another winger like Quincy Promes, or another prolific striker like Islam Slimani.
Tottenham are in the Champions League and can attract top talent, and now really is the time to capitalise on it to ensure as a minimum, they return to the same competition next year.
