Should Kun Temenuzhkov and Oriol Rey get chances for the Leeds United first team this season?

In the wake of Leeds United head coach Paul Heckingbottom’s recent comments to Leeds Live about handing youngsters chances this season only if they deserve, we look at two players from the academy who could change his stance.

Kun Temenuzhkov

Kun Temenuzhkov is a truly sensational talent who is progressing well at the Leeds Under-23 side.

The Bulgarian youngster has been compared to Real Madrid and France legend Zinedine Zidane, according to The Daily Star, and the striker has a very bright future ahead.

True, ‘Kun’ may not be ready for the first team yet, but perhaps in the final weeks of the season if Leeds are out of the running for the Championship playoffs, then the 18-year-old could make an appearance for the senior side in the Championship.

Oriol Rey

Just like Kun, Oriol Rey left Barcelona for Leeds in the summer of 2017 and is doing well for Carlos Corberan’s side this season at the moment.

Another young talent who is hugely promising, the defender could establish himself in the Leeds first team in the coming years.

It is not going to be easy for Rey to stake a claim in the senior side this campaign, but if the 20-year-old continues to progress and do well for the Under-23 side, then he will make it virtually impossible for Heckingbottom to ignore him.
