Celtic, Everton and Newcastle were all linked with summer moves for Hull’s Kamil Grosicki.

With two wins, a draw and two defeats in five games to start the season, Hull City’s attempts to return to the Premier League have got off to a solid if unspectacular start under Leonid Slutsky.
The Tigers lost the likes of Harry Maguire, Andrew Robertson, Sam Clucas, Tom Huddlestone, Curtis Davies, Eldin Jakupovic and Ahmed Elmohamady in a huge exodus upon relegation from the Premier League, but one player stayed put in the face off interest from elsewhere.
Winger Kamil Grosicki joined Hull from French side Rennes in January, arriving as a major coup having hit four goals and three assists in 16 Ligue 1 appearances before making his move to the KCOM Stadium.
Grosicki flashed real quality during his half-season with Hull, showing pace, drive, skill and crossing ability to give Hull a chance of survival, and he did notch three assists in 15 games as the Tigers were relegated under Marco Silva.
Now, Grosicki is starring in the Championship, having made a strong start to the new season. With a goal and two assists in the 4-0 win over Bolton Wanderers before the international break, Grosicki’s record for the season is already at two goals and three assists in just five Championship games.
Hull may well worry that they could lose Grosicki in the January transfer window, and a host of clubs should keep tabs on Grosicki’s form ahead of possibly renewing their interest in him in 2018.
The Mirror noted in July that Everton and Newcastle were among the Premier League clubs keen on signing Grosicki, whilst goal.pl suggested that Celtic backed away from a move for the wide man after baulking at the £9million to £10million asking price.
Everton lack pace in wide areas, and whilst 29-year-old Grosicki may not set pulses racing, he could be an experienced winger to make an impact in the second half of the season, especially if wantaway winger Kevin Mirallas does get a move away from Goodison Park.
Newcastle may well need the extra creativity in the final third, whilst Celtic could line him up for a move depending on their European campaign, which may give Brendan Rodgers more money to spend, with Patrick Roberts and Odsonne Edouard only on loan – and if Grosicki keeps up his impressive form, those interested clubs should continue to pursue his signature in January.
