WWE SummerSlam is just around the corner and we could see the return of two of WWE’s biggest stars at the ‘biggest party of the summer.’

With the current build in the company centred around the likes of Cody Rhodes, Gunther, Roman Reigns and now, Seth Rollins, there is a feeling that something fresh is needed among some fans.

CM Punk has also been off television for a while now, meaning WWE’s ‘star power’ has been lacking somewhat.

However, just like with WrestleMania, SummerSlam offers the chance of a reset of sorts and WWE are expecting two of their biggest names back in action.

Randy Orton and Drew McIntyre could both return at SummerSlam

We’ve not seen much of either Orton or McIntyre since WrestleMania season but there is no doubt that the duo offer WWE something different.

Reports are now suggesting that both Orton and McIntyre could return at SummerSlam in what would be a major boost for TKO and of course, Triple H and creative.

Orton could go in any direction and with so much young talent around at the moment, WWE could use him to elevate that talent or even continue where they left off in his hunt for a 16th world title.

As for McIntyre, he is one of the very top heels in the company and with a return for CM Punk also mooted, we could well see round two of that scenario play out.

McIntyre may also see his way into the Bloodline story given his history with Jacob Fatu and it will be interesting to see just what WWE do with the fiery Scotsman.

Either way, Orton and McIntyre returning – especially on the same evening – would be quite something for those in attendance.

WWE need a little boost at the moment in terms of storylines and having both McIntyre and Orton back involved only helps their cause.
