Aston Villa this weekend sacked Dean Smith as manager of the club after five Premier League losses in a row.
As per the club’s official website, the 50-year-old coach was relieved of his duties after three years with Villa that saw Smith take the club back to the top-flight and retain their Premier League status.
Despite an impressive mid-table finish last season, though, Villa have decided to let Smith go as manager. With the Birmingham-based side sitting just two points above the relegation zone.
Indeed, the decision seemed to have come out nowhere. With Smith spending close to £100m this summer following the departure of Jack Grealish. And the now-Manchester City star has given his take on the sacking.
The England international posted on his official Twitter account: “No1 will ever compare, the real GOAT.” Grealish has arguably played his best football under the ex-Villa manager.
Yet despite the City star being viewed poorly by some Villa fans, a few were pleased with what Grealish had to say about Smith following his dismissal as manager of Villa.
