Sunderland forward Duncan Watmore has suffered another serious injury setback.

Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Millwall was only the 23-year-old’s sixth appearance of 2017 after returning from a lengthy spell on the sidelines in September.
But Watmore did not make it through the first half at the Stadium of Light as he limped off having suffered cruciate ligament damage to the same knee.

Sky Sports reports that Watmore is poised to undergo surgery on Thursday and will be unavailable to new manager Chris Coleman for the rest of the season.
Watmore, signed from non-league Altrincham as a teenager, is a crowd favourite on Wearside and this injury setback has left Black Cats fans “gutted”.
Watmore has made 51 appearances for Sunderland, scoring four goals the last of which came against Norwich City in the Premier League in April 2016.
