Twitter has been reacting to West Ham United star Dimitri Payet’s performance as France beat Germany 2-0 to make the final of Euro 2016.
France’s Dimitri Payet holds his face after sustaining a injury
West Ham‘s hero has carried on where he left off for his club last season across the Channel with dazzling displays for his national side.
Payet, who scored 13 goals and registered the same number of assists last season despite missing three months of the campaign, has three goals and as many assists in the Euros.
His all round play has been superb and up to the semi-final against the Germans he was France’s standout player.
He was involved in some of Les Bleus’ best play once again but with Germany dominating for long spells the attacking midfield star had to do a lot of tracking back and defending for his team.
Dimitri Payet goes for goal
Flashes of brilliance but spent a lot of time defending
He showed flashes of brilliance but was on the periphery for large parts and although he looked set to unleash one of his trademark goals from outside the box but dragged his shot wide not long after taking the ball in the face.
Payet was substituted on 70 minutes for Leicester City’s N’Golo Kante with Didier Deschamps’ side clinging on to a 1-0 lead.
France scored almost immediately to seal the game and safe passage to the final where they face Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal.
But how did Twitter react to Payet’s performance?
