Tottenham striker did not have a successful game for Holland last night.

Qualifying for the 2018 World Cup was a long shot for Holland heading into last night’s fixture, and so it proved.
They needed to beat Sweden 7-0 to reach the play-offs, and began well with a brace from Arjen Robben, but that was as good as it got, with 2-0 not enough to take them to Russia.
Holland started Tottenham Hotspur loanee Vincent Janssen up front – hardly a prolific goalscorer based on the past year of football.

Janssen just could not get going, and Holland hooked him off after just 45 minutes, starting Bas Dost in his place.
It was a sign that manager Dick Advocaat had lost faith in his ability to break the Swedes down, and wanted to try an alternative.
Janssen was signed by Spurs in 2016, billed as competition for Harry Kane, but he could not even prove to be an effective back-up.
Tottenham sent him on loan to Fenerbahce last month where he has begun to play regularly, but it is an indictment of the Dutch team’s struggles that Janssen is regarded as their best option for a crucial qualifier.
Here is a look at how Twitter reacted to Janssen’s performance…
