France beat Sweden 2-1 in Saint-Denis on Friday evening.

France remain unbeaten in the qualifiers for the 2018 World Cup in Russia after beating Sweden 2-1 in Saint-Denis on Friday evening.

Didier Deschamps’ men went into the game with seven points from three games, with the only dropped points coming in a 0-0 draw with Belarus back in September.

A win was needed on Friday, but when RB Leipzig winger Emil Forsberg struck Sweden in front on 54 minutes, there were fears that France could fall to a shock home defeat.

France did come back though, and two Premier League stars saved the day as Manchester United’s Paul Pogba equalised before Dimitri Payet of West Ham United hit the winner in the 65th minute.

Other Premier League stars, such as Hugo Lloris, Laurent Koscielny and Olivier Giroud, whilst Tottenham Hotspur’s Moussa Sissoko played 90 minutes as France ran out winners.

The Tottenham midfielder, 27, has come in for heavy criticism having failed to impress for Spurs since his deadline day move from Newcastle United, thought he starred for France over the summer at Euro 2016.

Fans took to Twitter on Friday to comment on Sissoko’s inclusion and performance for France, with many wondering how he’s able to nail down such a regular spot in Deschamps’ side considering the players he has at his disposal, though one fan believed that Sissoko is actually more important to the way France play than the world’s most expensive player, Pogba.

Tottenham supporters also commented on Twitter, and found more positives than the neutrals. Some noted that France’s more direct style of play suited Sissoko better than Tottenham’s possession style under Mauricio Pochettino, adding that he was creating more chances than he has been for Spurs.

Others noted that France’s Sissoko and Tottenham’s Sissoko appear to be two different players, and one fan still doesn’t think that Sissoko is worth what Spurs paid given that he is such a poor crosser of the ball.
