Argentina picked up a comfortable 2-0 win over Peru this morning as their World Cup qualifying campaign continued in Lima.

Lionel Scaloni’s men struck twice in the first half, as Nicolas Gonzalez and Lautaro Martinez both struck to secure all three points.

Argentina saw out the second half and didn’t give Peru a sniff of getting back into the game, meaning they are now unbeaten in their last six games.

Tottenham fans may have been interested to see how the game turned out, given that Giovani Lo Celso started for Argentina.

The playmaker has started just one Premier League game this season and isn’t yet at his best, with Jose Mourinho usually going with Moussa Sissoko, Tanguy Ndombele and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg as his midfield trio.

This was a great chance for Lo Celso to try and find some form, and he picked up an assist with a superb pass to set up Gonzalez’s goal.

Lo Celso played in a midfield two with Leandro Paredes, and turned in a strong display that showed he can be trusted in such a role despite his attacking ability.

Fans took to Twitter to rave about the Spurs star, suggesting that he was ‘on fire’ and now needs to start regularly for Argentina.

Others called him ‘a baller’, ‘insane’ and ‘quality’, marvelling at ‘what a player’ he is after such a strong display.
