Spain picked up an impressive 2-0 win over France in an international friendly at the Stade de France, with Gerard Deulofeu enjoying a remarkable cameo.

Julen Lopetegui’s men had beaten Israel 4-1 in a World Cup qualifier on Friday, whilst France were heading into the game having picked up a 3-1 qualifying win over Luxembourg, meaning the two sides went in with confidence.

France looked to have taken a second half lead when Antoine Griezmann headed the ball home, only for the Video Assistant Referee to rule the goal out.

Didier Deschamps’ men were then hit as Gerard Deulofeu was fouled by Laurent Koscielny to hand Spain a penalty, with David Silva converting from 12 yards.

Substitute Deulofeu then capped off an outstanding cameo by converting Jordi Alba’s cross to make it 2-0, sparking a huge reaction on Twitter.

Deulofeu was sent packing from Everton by manager Ronald Koeman, and having not only impressed for Spain but also loan club AC Milan, Toffees fans took to Twitter to urge Koeman to reconsider his stance and bring Deulofeu back to Goodison Park.

Barcelona fans urged the club to bring Deulofeu back to the Camp Nou given that they have a buy-back clause in his deal, suggesting that the winger is the impact player Barca need.

Others raved about Deulofeu’s display, with Liverpool fans poking fun at their rivals having deemed the winger not good enough for the Premier League, yet there he was, excelling for Spain.
