If Kristoffer Ajer wanted to find a spot to impress parent club Celtic, last night’s match against Rangers was the ideal opportunity.

The 18-year-old was not part of Brendan Rodgers plans this season, and was sent out to Kilmarnock to gain experience.

Ajer started last night’s draw with Rangers, playing a key role in helping his side keep a clean sheet.

It was the Norwegian’s 10th league start of the season, and he is growing more and more comfortable in the team.

The timing of this weekend’s fixture against Celtic is unfortunate for him, with Ajer unavailable due to the terms of his loan agreement.

Kilmarnock are into a respectable seventh position in the table, while the draw does little for Pedro Caixinha’s Rangers, still in third.

Ajer showed last night he can handle the best Rangers had to offer, a promising sign for his chances of making it at Celtic.

His display was assured and encouraging, belying his youthful age. There’s real hope that he is able to go on and fulfil his potential.

Here is a look at how Twitter reacted to his performance…
