Simon Mignolet has told The Times that Liverpool deserve to win the Premier League title this season.

The Club Brugge goalkeeper has said that although there can be twists and turns in the title race, he cannot see anyone dislodge Liverpool from pole position.

The Reds are just two wins away from winning the title for the first time in the Premier League era.

Mignolet moved to Brugge in his native Belgium from Liverpool in the summer of 2019, and his side were recently declared the league champions after it was called off due to the global health crisis.

Mignolet told The Times: “A hundred per cent, Liverpool deserve it. In the Premier League, things can twist and change at the end of the season but with the advantage they have got I don’t see anyone being champion other than my old team-mates.”

Deserved winners

Even if the Premier League decide to call off the season, no one can argue that Liverpool will not be deserved winners.

The Reds are way ahead of second-placed and defending champions Manchester City at the top of the table and have been the best team in England this season.

True, Jurgen Klopp’s side could still lose a couple of games and drop a few points in the final games of the season, but it is almost impossible for them to collapse.
