Former Elland Road star Rio Ferdinand has spoken highly of Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford on Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE.

Ferdinand, who now works as a pundit for BT Sports, believes that Leeds striker Bamford should have been included in the latest England squad and has praised his qualities.

The Englishman said about Bamford on Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE: “The way he plays football, have you seen his two goals he scored earlier in the season against Aston Villa at Villa Park?

“Twinkle toes on a dance floor. He scores all types of goals. He gets across people. I think he has been fabulous this season.”

Bamford has been superb for Leeds so far this season and has been banging in the goals for fun. The striker scored a hat-trick against Villa in October 2020.

The 27-year-old striker has scored 14 goals and provided six assists in 29 Premier League matches for Marcelo Bielsa’s side so far this season, according to WhoScored.

During the 2019-20 campaign, the striker made 43 starts and two substitute appearances in the Championship for the Whites, scoring 16 goals and providing two assists in the process, according to WhoScored.

It will be a disappointment for Bamford that he has been snubbed by England head coach Gareth Southgate, but if the former Chelsea and Nottingham Forest striker continues to score goals, then he will certainly earn a cap for the Three Lions.

Leeds are having a wonderful season in the Premier League and could finish the campaign in the top 10.
