Thomas Tuchel was furious with Djed Spence during England’s 0-0 draw with Ghana at the 2026 World Cup.
England supporters had been looking forward to another exciting performance after beating Croatia 4-2 last week.
However, Ghana proved to be a more difficult opponent, parking the bus and limiting England to minimal chances.
Although Tuchel remained upbeat after the game, you could tell by his reactions on the touchline that he was frustrated.
The German manager’s outburst at left-back Djed Spence proved he was not satisfied with England’s intensity with the ball.

Thomas Tuchel shouts at Djed Spence during England’s World Cup match against Ghana
Tuchel repeatedly shouted Djed Spence’s name at one point during England’s stalemate against Ghana.
He wanted Spence to put in more effort to get further forward and cause problems for the Ghanaian defence.
“Djed… Djed… Djed! Give and go!” Tuchel yelled at Spence, via ITV Football.
The Tottenham man was a surprise inclusion in England’s 26-man squad, let alone in the starting XI to face Ghana.
Tuchel is obviously a big fan of Spence’s, selecting him over Luke Shaw, Lewis Hall, and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Having come off the bench against Croatia, Spence started in place of Nico O’Reilly at left-back against Ghana.
He excels at one-vs-one defending, with his elite pace and tackling, but he is not much of a threat in attacking areas.
This appears to be an area that Tuchel wants Spence to improve in, if the clip from the Ghana game is anything to go by.
