Wilfried Zaha was strongly linked with a move to Tottenham but chose to renew with Crystal Palace.

Wilfried Zaha entered the transfer window as Tottenham Hotspur’s top transfer target, The Express reported earlier this year.

Mauricio Pochettino was keen to sign the winger, having had a bid turned down for him in August 2016.

Zaha ended the season in fine form for the Eagles, but chose to turn his back on a potential move to Spurs by signing a contract extension with Crystal Palace.

Frank de Boer was quickly then appointed as Palace manager and the future looked bright for him, but with the Dutchman fired after just four games.

Palace appear directionless, and Zaha will be left wondering if he made a terrible error.

Tottenham kick off their Champions League campaign this week against Borussia Dortmund at Wembley in a glamour tie, which Zaha will simply have to watch on television, while exciting matches against Real Madrid await.

A future move is not out of the question as Spurs did not sign a winger in the recent transfer window, but Zaha has made it a lot harder by tying his long term future to Palace.

He signed a contract with wages worth £110,000 per week, meaning if he was to join Spurs he could even have to agree to a pay cut.

If Palace are relegated then it could be a game changer, but it is his job to ensure this does not happen.
