Leeds United were linked with Jeremain Lens ahead of the January transfer window, and another report has suggested that the interest is still there.

According to a report from Turkish outlet Fotomac, Leeds remain interested in signing Jeremain Lens as Besiktas struggle to agree a new contract with the winger.

Fotomac reported back in December that the Whites were monitoring Lens ahead of a potential January bid. Of course, no move would take place as Marcelo Bielsa only managed to add Kiko Casilla and Mateusz Bogusz to his squad.

But it appears that Lens may still be on Bielsa’s radar heading into the summer. Fotomac is suggesting that the former Sunderland man could be available at the end of the season if he does not sign a new contract with Besiktas, and the Championship promotion-chasers continue to monitor his situation.

Lens has endured an underwhelming end to the season. He has not scored a league goal since October, while his most recent assist came back in February. His best form has actually come in the Europa League, where he scored three goals as Besiktas failed to progress out of the group.

As nothing came of the January rumours, it would be no surprise if Leeds fans were not reading too much into the latest links. He may be an option that Victor Orta or Bielsa’s team will be monitoring, but given the detail the Whites boss likes to go into with his research and analysis, there are probably not too many players that his scouts do not have on their radar in some capacity.

And if Leeds do manage to get promoted out of the Championship, it would arguably be fair to suggest that he would be an underwhelming addition at this stage of his career.
