Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel believes Tottenham Hotspur took a big risk with their cavalier approach to the game in the first half on Sunday.
Chelsea ended up coasting to a 3-0 win over Tottenham on Sunday afternoon.
Thiago Silva, N’Golo Kante and Antonio Rüdiger found the net in the second half, with the Blues clearly much better than Tottenham.
Chelsea needed a big second half performance to claim that win though, with Tottenham on top early on.
Tottenham take the game to Chelsea
Nuno Espirito Santo went with a bold lineup. Cristian Romero was thrown in for a start, as was Giovani Lo Celso. Even Tanguy Ndombele started in midfield for Tottenham.
Tottenham started really well. They were quick and aggressive, showing great intensity to leave Chelsea a little rocked early on.
The Blues couldn’t get into the game until N’Golo Kante came on at half time, helping give Chelsea the intensity they needed.
Tottenham either tired themselves out or didn’t have the extra gear that Chelsea had in the second half. Or maybe both.

Chelsea boss Tuchel comments on Nuno approach
Tuchel told Football.London after the game that ‘it was clear’ to see that Nuno took a risk by playing ‘very aggressive’ football on Sunday.
Chelsea were happy with that because it opened up space for counter-attacks. Unfortunately for Chelsea, they were too ‘sloppy’ to take advantage, according to Tuchel.
Tuchel couldn’t really say whether the intensity came from emotions driven by Jimmy Greaves’ passing, but was just delighted that Chelsea blew Tottenham way in the second half.
“It was clear they took risk, played very aggressive,” said Tuchel. “That opened chances for counter attacks because it was a very aggressive and emotional Tottenham side. But we were sloppy and didn’t use this aggression to our advantage.”
“I’m not sure from where it came but there was a lack of intensity and energy from us in the first half. Second half was a fantastic answer and a good performance,” he added.
