Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte has been summed up in one word by Chelsea counterpart Thomas Tuchel.

Last week there was tension at Stamford Bridge as Spurs secured a 2-2 draw away to their London rivals.

After the game, the duo were embroiled in a heated confrontation after Tuchel refused to let go of the Tottenham coach’s hand.

That was the second incident in an ill-tempered contest which saw the passionate Italian celebrate the Lilywhites’ first equaliser right in front of the Blues’ boss.

Tuchel was slapped with a one-match touchline suspension and fined £35,000 for instigating the second confrontation, while Conte got away with a £15,000 fine and no ban.

Speaking to Sky Sports this afternoon, the German manager has admitted that he’s full of admiration for the former Chelsea manager, whom he summed up by calling ‘fierce’.

He said: “He’s a fierce competitor, a huge coach. I have nothing but admiration for how he builds teams, for how he transforms teams.”

Last week the former Borussia Dortmund coach probably had more fitting, albeit explicit words in mind to describe the 53-year-old trainer.

However, ‘fierce’ is probably one of the best words that sums up the Tottenham man, because that’s exactly what he is and it’s no surprise to see Spurs become a lot tougher in what is a reflection of their boss, more or less.
