Both players made late appearances during the pre-season friendly with Wigan on Saturday, with Pereira finding the net in a 2-0 win.
Manchester United’s Andreas Pereira celebrates scoring their second goal
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has told MUTV that young duo Axel Tuanzebe and Andreas Pereira both have bright futures ahead of them at Old Trafford, after watching them impress during the 2-0 pre-season friendly win over Wigan Athletic on Saturday.
A relaxed performance at the DW saw United take a second-half lead through Will Keane on 49 minutes, before fellow academy graduate Pereira doubled the lead late on after arriving off the bench with Tuanzebe eight minutes from time.
Pereira has been tipped as a future star by his boss
Saturday’s win was Mourinho’s first game in charge of the Red Devils, giving him a chance to cast his eye over his squad ahead of what promises to be a big season at Old Trafford, with the club having won one trophy in the last three years.
But while bringing immediate success will be high on the former Chelsea manager’s list of priorities, he is clearly already looking to the future.
Mourinho has been impressed by what he’s seen from his new side
And despite only seeing eight minutes of Tuanzebe and Pereira on Saturday, he is convinced both players have what it takes to succeed in the Premier League.
He told MUTV after the game: “You can play 90 minutes or one minute and sometimes one minute is enough. With Axel [Tuanzebe] – 10 minutes is enough!
“The potential is there, you could see it immediately.
Mourinho says both players have what it takes to succeed in the Premier League
“Andreas [Pereira] has lots of talent. He has incredible vision and an incredible technique.
“That’s just talking about two players but the reality is the kids, without pressure and in a calm environment and not in the fire but in a cool situation for them, were very good. And it was very good for me to see what they can do.”
