Tottenham Hotspur take on Hull City this weekend in a Premier League encounter at White Hart Lane.
Tottenham Hotspur host Hull City this weekend in a match that will see two former Spurs player return to White Hart Lane in the colours of the visiting Tigers.
One of those is midfielder Tom Huddlestone, the 28-year-old trading North London for East Yorkshire in the summer of 2013 and helping his new employers to preserve their Premier League status last year.
This season, however, Hull face the prospect of relegation as, with just two games remaining, they find themselves inside the bottom three and two points from safety.
Steve Bruce’s men need a victory at Spurs, and they will be looking at Huddlestone to put on a dominant performance against upcoming midfield opponent Ryan Mason.
| Tackles per Game | Interceptions per Game | Defensive Duels Won per Game | Ball Recovery per Game | Touches per Game | Accurate Passes per Game | Key Passes per Game | Appearances | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ryan Mason | 2.1 | 1.59 | 5.03 | 3.86 | 64.55 | 42 | 0.83 | 29 |
| Tom Huddlestone | 1.59 | 1.52 | 4.59 | 7.83 | 62.76 | 38.17 | 0.72 | 29 |
As per the table provided by Opta Stats, the Hull midfielder has a tough task ahead of him as Mason enters the fixture with a much better head-to-head record this season.
The young England international has recorded, on average, more tackles, interceptions and defensive duel winners per Premier League encounter.
Moreover, in possession, Mason is seemingly the busier of the two and the more creative – averaging slightly more touches, accurate passes and chances created via key passes than his opponent.
However, one area where the former Derby County academy product can get the better of Mason is using his strength and experience when it matters.
Spurs’ season has petered out in recent weeks and subsequently a number of performance levels have dropped, giving Hull a great chance of claiming an unexpected result in the English capital.
