Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been linked with the Real Madrid managerial seat.

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has told Spanish publication AS that he wants to remain at the club for a very long time, following speculation linking Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp with the role.

A separate report emerged from AS yesterday stating that Madrid are eyeing Klopp to take over from Zidane if and when the Frenchman leaves his post at the Santiago Bernabeu.

With struggles in La Liga and an embarrassing early exit from the Copa Del Rey, many feel only a Champions League triumph will see Zidane survive the revolving door at the Bernabeu.

But the former World Cup winner intends to fight on regardless, telling reporters he is still a young coach and his biggest desire is to remain in the post for a number of years to come.

“We speak a lot, there are many critics and messages. Maybe the questions are repetitive and the answers out of context. But I’m young, I’m happy here and I’ve not been coaching long,” Zidane told AS.

“My passion remains intact. What I like most is daily work and I would like to remain and fight here for a long time.”

Klopp and Tottenham Hotspur’s Mauricio Pochettino seemingly are potential options for Madrid in the future, but right now the duo would be better off staying in the Premier League.

Liverpool are still trying to bridge the gap between themselves and the Premier League’s summit, and Klopp knows he has the backing of the board following the arrival of record signing Virgil van Dijk.

There will always be the attraction of Barcelona or Real Madrid for the very top managers, but right now the Premier League is the place to be so Reds fans should have little to worry about.

As for Madrid, they are in a strong position to beat Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League and they have the know-how and ability to go all the way and make it three triumphs in succession.
