Derby County boss Frank Lampard has been linked with Chelsea.

Neil Harris, manager of Millwall looks on during the Sky Bet Championship match between Millwall and Wolverhampton at The Den on December 26, 2017 in London, England.

Millwall manager Neil Harris says he will be amazed if Derby County boss Frank Lampard doesn’t move to Chelsea this summer as he compares the situation to Lee Gregory’s transfer to Stoke City, South London Press reports.

“I think it was one of the worst-kept secrets in football! It’s like I’ll be amazed if Frank Lampard doesn’t go to Chelsea – that could be another one,” Harris explained.

“Lee going to Stoke ticks all the boxes that Lee Gregory desired in the conversations we had.”

Lee Gregory’s move to Stoke City was recently made official, but it has been speculated in the media such as The Sun as pretty much a done-deal for well over a month.

Derby face a similar situation over their manager Frank Lampard. Speculation started mounting even before the Rams’ 2-1 Championship play-off final defeat to Aston Villa at the end of May.

By mid-June, it was reported by The Telegraph how Derby would seek £4 million in compensation while former Chelsea player Didier Drogba was quoted in The Sun last week as saying Lampard was in talks with the Blues.

But it wasn’t until Tuesday, however, when Derby produced a statement saying they have granted permission to Chelsea to talk to Lampard over the vacant position at Stamford Bridge.

While Lampard is still contracted to the Rams, the sheer volume of interest and speculation over the past month suggests he is likely to join the Blues but it’s a potential deal which has hardly been done under wraps.
