Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly keen on signing Juan Quintero.
According to a report in the Mirror (live transfer thread, July 1st at 14:45), Wolverhampton Wanderers are eyeing an ambitious move for Porto ace Juan Quintero.
The Colombia international is currently on World Cup duty and has impressed with one goal and two assists in his nation’s three group stages, and now he is set to face England in the last 16.
Wolves have benefitted from their relationship with super-agent Jorge Mendes and brought in several talented players last season as they romped to the Championship title.
In their bid to establish themselves in the Premier League, they’ve already managed to sign Mexico international forward Raul Jimenez on loan while Diogo Jota and Leo Bonatini have made their loan moves permanent.
To date, though, Portugal international goalkeeper Rui Patricio has been their best summer signing however they could ultimately top that with the acquisition of Quintero considering the competition for his signature.
The Mirror report that both Tottenham Hotspur and Real Madrid are also keen on signing the 25-year-old, therefore pipping the Champions League duo to his signature would be a major coup for Wolves.
It would also signal the west Midlands club’s intentions of making quite an impact in their debut Premier League campaign, while also illustrating their long-term ambitions of becoming a top European side.
The attacking midfielder has spent the past three seasons out on loan at the likes of Rennes, Independiente Medellin and River Plate, but now he seems ready for a regular football in Europe’s top leagues.
The report goes on to say that Jorge Mendes is working behind the scenes to try and get it done, while supporters can only watch on in hope of Wolves pulling off what would be an amazing signing.
