Nottingham Forest are in desperate need for a new goal scorer.
Nottingham Forest boss Aitor Karanka needs to add a new goal scorer to his squad this summer and one player who could make a huge difference would be former Middlesbrough man Cristhian Stuani.
The 31-year-old Uruguay international played under Karanka during the Spaniard’s promotion campaign at Middlesbrough and finished the season as the Teesside club’s joint-top goal scorer.
Stuani has plenty of experience featuring at the highest level, and over the past 12 months he seems to have developed his game further playing for La Liga minnows Girona.
In just 30 league starts for the club, Stuani has netted an incredible 19 La Liga goals meaning he is the joint-fifth highest scorer in the league – alongside Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann.
Since joining Forest just after the New Year, Karanka has slowly started to turn things around for the Reds with a previously leaky defence now as formidable as the very best in the Championship.
Forest kept five clean sheets in their last 11 games of the season, conceding 11 goals in total, though with tough away trips to Middlesbrough and Cardiff City, they were expected to come unstuck in those games.
Where the East Midlands side have faltered is through a lack of goals, scoring just eight goals over those same 11 fixtures as strikers Daryl Murphy and Ben Brereton struggle to make an impact.
Karanka is in desperate need of adding to striker ranks this summer if he plans on challenging for the playoffs next term and bringing Stuani back to England would certainly aid his cause.
The former Espanyol man can’t be earning much playing for La Liga’s smallest club, while it’s doubtful the Catalonia-based outfit would seek a potentially big fee despite his exceptional form this term.
