West Bromwich Albion and Leeds United have been linked with Coventry City’s Sam McCallum.

According to a report in the Express and Star, West Bromwich Albion are ready to challenge the likes of Leeds United, Nottingham Forest and Huddersfield Town for the signature of Sam McCallum.

The report says the Baggies have been keeping close tabs on the left-back, and they are hopeful of putting together a package which would lure the Coventry man to the Hawthorns.

McCallum only joined Coventry in 2018 from non-league side Hearn Bay. He has quickly established himself as a promising player in League One, earning a new contract until 2022.

The report claims Leeds, Forest, Huddersfield and Villa have also been linked. Moreover, the Coventry Telegraph recently cited Leeds as a strong candidate to sign him after initially tracking Jodi Jones.

McCallum, who was once on the books of Gillingham before getting released, is an example of young players going down the leagues before getting the chance to impress further up the ladder.

West Brom have made it one of their goals to sign young talent under new manager Slaven Bilic and allowing them to develop according at the West Midlands club – such as Saul Shotton from Bury.

McCallum, 19, has made six league appearances for the Sky Blues this season. He is another player with big potential and West Brom will be hopeful they can fend off interest from their Championship rivals.

Slaven Bilic is presented as the new manager of West Bromwich Albion during a press conference at The Hawthorns on June 24, 2019 in West Bromwich, England.
