Sheffield Wednesday lost 2-0 at Brentford.
Some Sheffield Wednesday supporters have taken to social networking site Twitter to display their displeasure at Joey Pelupessy’s performance as his side lost 2-0 at Championship rivals Brentford.
The Owls, under a transfer embargo during the summer transfer window, have started the Championship campaign with the same squad which finished the last one barring a few departures.
Many expected Wednesday to find it tough considering their inability to strengthen the squad, but just one point taken from their opening three matches has supporters now fearing the worst.
Writing on Twitter during the Owls’ disappointing 2-0 defeat at Brentford, several fans felt a number of players simply weren’t up to scratch with manager Jos Luhukay’s only signing Pelupessy getting the brunt of it.
Luhukay took over the Owls’ reigns following the sacking of Carlos Carvalhal, and due to the transfer embargo, his only signing in charge of the Yorkshire club came last January in for the form of Pelupessy.
The former Twente youngster arrived at Hillsborough from Eredivisie side Heracles, but the step up to the Championship has been evident for the midfielder as he struggles to make an impact.
Against Brentford Pelupessy struggled to contribute much in an attacking sense, with the 25-year-old failing to create any chances for his teammates despite seeing a lot of the ball having made 59 touches (Whoscored).
The midfielder often looks indecisive in possession as Brentford harried him out of possession, and it was a lack of togetherness in the middle of the park which saw the Owls struggle to get their forward players into the game.
An early penalty from Neal Maupay and a second half tap-in for Ollie Watkins gave the Bees all three points, leaving the Owls near the bottom of the Championship table and in need of strengthening via the loan market.
