Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva is currently nursing a thigh injury.
Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva has taken to social media site Instagram to post a video of himself running as he bids to return from injury.
The Brazil international has been out of action since picking up a thigh injury just 16 minutes into the Merseyside derby against Everton earlier this month.
An initial diagnosis suggested that he was set for at least a month on the sidelines, as reported by the Guardian on Monday 9 February, although Premierinjuries has him out for longer.
However, it appears Lucas could be set to return sooner than expected as he posted a video of himself gently running around the pitch as he works on his fitness.
Lucas is currently back in his homeland, having posted a picture on Instagram donning a Gremio shirt and joining in with physical training alongside players and staff of the Brazilian outfit.
His return could coincide with the Reds’ upcoming clashes against fellow top-four rivals Manchester United and Arsenal at the end of March.
The 28-year-old is an important figure in Brendan Rodgers’ midfield and while his absence hasn’t resulted in a collapse of form, he remains a key cog in the club’s end of season objectives.
