Bayern Munich forward Toni Kroos has been linked with a sensational move to Manchester United during the last few days.

The 24-year-old midfielder is reportedly unhappy at Bayern Munich as a result of an on-going contract dispute.

The German international is believed to want a salary that would place him near Bayern’s greatest earners – thought to be Phillip Lahm, Franck Ribery and Bastian Schweinsteiger.

Bayern Munich’s CEO Karl-Heinze Rummenige spoke about the contract situation – explaining that the club remain hopeful of extending Kroos’ current deal which runs out in the summer of 2015, adding:

“I hope we can get an agreement with Toni Kroos. We have to find a contract that make Toni and Bayern happy”

However, the Manchester United linked star has not ruled out leaving the club, with Sky Sports quoting the forward:

“I am unable to rule anything out,”

“I am under contract with Bayern Munich (until June 2015). Actually there are yet no further talks (regarding a new contract) scheduled. I will therefore fully focus on the second half of the season.

“There are worse situations in life. I play for a top club, and under a top coach. I am pleased, and sometime in the future a decision will be made.”

Following Bayern’s away game at Stuttgart, the away side found themselves 1-0 down and in the second-half Kroos reacted angrily to being substituted by throwing his gloves at the Bayern bench – with his replacement going on to find the equaliser.

The moment could be an omen for Manchester United – as similarly Juan Mata also reacted angrily to being substituted during Chelsea’s 3-0 victory at Southampton – before completing a £37m move to Old Trafford.

A deal in January looks unlikely – however with Manchester United reportedly speaking with one of Kroos’ advisers, Sascha Breese, perhaps another dramatic late January signing could be on the cards.
