Derby County have made a decent start under new manager Frank Lampard.

Former striker Marcus Tudgay believes Derby County have improved under new manager Frank Lampard, adding qualities that the club haven’t had in the past, the Sheffield Star report.
“They are doing things that Derby County never used to do. Things like coming back stronger in games, when they’ve gone behind for example. They’ve looked good so far and like they have a bit more about them,” Tudgay explained.
Tudgay came through the Derby County academy and featured heavily under former manager George Burley, helping the side reach the playoffs in 2004/05, before later going on to play for the Rams’ opponents this weekend Sheffield Wednesday.
The Owls head in to the game win-less in five matches, though they will be buoyed by the 0-0 draw with rivals Sheffield United at Bramall Lane last time out as it put an end to a four-game losing streak.
Derby, meanwhile, lost 3-0 at home to Aston Villa last time out but aside from that heavy defeat, the east Midlands side have been in decent form picking up 12 points from their previous six games.
Under Lampard, the Rams’ playing style is far more pleasing on the eye compared to his predecessor Gary Rowett, and the average age of the starting XI has been significantly lowered this season.

Derby are more youthful and attacking, and that has helped them recover from losing positions to pick up positive results including Championship victories over Birmingham City, Brentford and Reading.
The Rams succumbed to a playoff defeat at the hands of promoted Fulham last season, while this season supporters will be hoping Tudgay’s comments remain true and that Lampard can guide the team one step further.
