Blackburn Rovers’ Ryan Nyambe has a big future ahead.

Blackburn Rovers manager Tony Mowbray claims youngster Ryan Nyambe has the potential to play in the Premier League, describing him as a monster following the 1-1 draw with Rotherham United.

The Blackburn academy product has played over 50 times for Rovers in the Championship and League One, but this season he has often struggled for minutes given heavy competition for places.

That said, following an injury to Harrison Reed in the weekend clash with Rotherham, Nyambe came on for the second period and put in an excellent shift in a midfield role – racking up an 80% pass accuracy rate (Whoscored).

Mowbray told the club’s official Twitter account after the game how the player has all the attributes to play in the top flight, and Blackburn supporters responded by praising his efforts against the Millers.

Rovers dominated their game against Rotherham but ultimately had to settle for a point, missing out on moving into the top six after both Nottingham Forest and Derby County dropped points.

It has so far been a very good campaign on their return to the Championship. But Blackburn have the potential to reach greater heights, and players such as Bradley Dack, Adam Armstrong, Darragh Lenihan, Ben Brereton and Nyambe make up a core group who could become top players at Ewood Park.

Nambia-born Nyambe is versatile, allowing him to play both in defence and midfield but, given his 6ft frame and powerful running, he looks destined to be an international midfield enforcer.
