Blackburn Rovers beat Bolton Wanderers 1-0 at the University of Bolton Stadium Saturday.
Blackburn Rovers manager Tony Mowbray has said his side were fortunate to beat Bolton Wanderers at the University of Bolton Stadium and feels they can play much better, the Lancashire Telegraph reports.
“Not very good performance, a bit disappointed. The first 15 or 20 minutes was what we had worked on and planned for, but credit to them, they’re a team who make life difficult,” Mowbray admitted.
“Do you call it winning ugly? I think it was the spirit we have that got us through. It was there on show today’, he said
Blackburn picked up all three points from their Lancashire derby clash with Bolton thanks to Bradley Dack’s first-half winner – his eighth goal of the season in all competitions. Bolton made Rovers work hard for the win after being outplayed in the first 20 minutes or so, and the Trotters can feel somewhat aggrieved not to at least take a share of the spoils. The victory moves Blackburn up to ninth in the Championship table, with Bolton 16th on 15 points. Both teams have confounded the critics so far this season, as many thought both sides would be fighting to stay in the Championship.
Mowbray’s Blackburn side have demonstrated they can mix it with the division’s best, having sustained just two defeats in 12 matches, The former West Bromwich Albion boss, however, will be hoping his side can provide a greater attacking threat, having managed to score just 14 league goals.
