Blackburn Rovers signed Ben Brereton from Nottingham Forest in the summer.
Blackburn Rovers manager Tony Mowbray says he is sure his side will make a big profit on Ben Brereton when it comes to selling the former Nottingham Forest academy product.
“Ben is a nice kid, he’s got all the talent in the world,” Mowbray told BBC Lancashire.
“We just need to be patient with him. The money is not irrelevant. The day we sell Brereton from this club, whether it’s me or the next manager, will get a lot more money than we spent for him. I’m 100% certain of that.”
Blackburn signed Brereton from Forest in the summer on an initial loan deal which will become permanent in January for a reported £7 million fee, according to the BBC.
Brereton came through the youth ranks at Forest and made over 30 Championship appearances for the club last season, with the majority of those coming under former manager Mark Warburton.
But after Warburton was dismissed midway through the campaign, his successor Aitor Karanka started to leave the striker out of the Reds’ first-team picture and was happy to let him leave in the summer.
Blackburn, back in the Championship after winning League One last term, made Brereton their most expensive signing since Jordan Rhodes, but so far the former Forest ace hasn’t featured much.
Rovers boss Tony Mowbray has instead looked to the likes of Danny Graham, Bradley Dack and fellow summer signing Adam Armstrong to lead the line, and with 21 points from 14 games, they have warranted their place.
Brereton has work to do before establishing himself as a first-team regular at Ewood Park, with Mowbray recently suggesting to reporters how the striker needs to increase his effort levels in training.
But at 19, the striker has undoubted potential and Mowbray seems confident that when it clicks, Brereton will make a big impact at Blackburn and go on to play at a higher level.
