Ipswich Town missed out on a deal for Reading’s Callum Harriott.

Reading winger Callum Harriott has taken to social media site Twitter to announce he will be leaving the club this summer when his contract at the Madejski Stadium comes to an end.
The 25-year-old joined the Royals in 2016, yet he was reportedly very close to moving to Ipswich Town the same summer as the South London Press claimed then boss Mick McCarthy was plotting a move.
Harriott was contracted to Charlton Athletic at the time, and he had a fine season in League One on loan at Colchester United where the winger netted five goals and grabbed eight assists.
Harriott’s time in Berkshire, however, has been blighted by injuries and after just 11 league starts over the three years, he has now confirmed his impending exit and wished Reading all the best for the future.
Ipswich will be playing in League One next season after suffering relegation from the Championship, and Harriott is the sort of player they could now look at as a potential bargain.

The winger still has his best years ahead of him and he has already proven he is more than capable of producing at League One level.
Paul Lambert’s side will be among the favourites for promotion back to the Championship, but they will be aware they, like Sunderland, represent a target for smaller clubs to make life as difficult as possible
