Hull City lost 2-0 at Derby County on Saturday.

Hull manager Nigel Adkins gestures during the Sky Bet Championship match between Hull City and Fulham at KCOM Stadium on December 30, 2017 in Hull, England.

Hull City supporters have taken to Twitter to comment on their chances of reaching the Championship playoffs following their 2-0 defeat to top six rivals Derby County.

The Tigers travelled to the East Midlands having won eight of their last 11 league games – a stunning run of form which took them from the bottom six to within four points of the playoff positions.

Derby started the day in seventh, therefore it was a crucial encounter for Nigel Adkins’ side, but Hull they ultimately came up short, with forward Martyn Waghorn scoring twice for the Rams.

Defeat leaves Hull seven points adrift of the top six – having played one game extra – and fans now feel that their chances could be over as we enter the final third of the Championship campaign.

Derby’s game in hand is at home to struggling Millwall, so Hull City could find themselves ten points behind and in need of another incredible run just to catch up with their recent opponents.

Jarrod Bowen of Hull City (L) arrives at the stadium prior to the Premier League match between Hull City and Burnley at KCOM Stadium on February 25, 2017 in Hull, England.

Frank Lampard’s side were worthy of the three points following a commanding performance, but things could have been different for Hull had Kamil Grosicki netted a glorious early chance, instead of hitting the post.

The Tigers will look to bounce back when they take on Rotherham United at the KCOM Stadium on Tuesday, while Derby travel to Portman Road on Wednesday to the Championship’s bottom club Ipswich Town.

Derby, in the meantime, have a fight on their hands for a play-off place. Including Hull City, there are 11 Championship clubs who are still in with some shot at the play-offs, but many of these clubs will have to put together impressive runs to be in with any chance.
