Tottenham Hotspur’s Heung-Min Son has received more glowing praise.
Swansea City’s Sung-Yeung Ki believes Tottenham Hotspur’s Heung-Min Son is vastly underrated and often overshadowed by England internationals Harry Kane and Dele Alli, Sky Sports report.
Son is currently enjoying his best season at Tottenham since joining the club from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015, scoring 12 goals and grabbing a further four assists in 29 Premier League games.
In his last five matches in all competitions, Son has netted an impressive seven goals including doubles in the FA Cup victory over Rochdale and League triumphs over Huddersfield Town and Bournemouth.
Son is proving to be just as important to Spurs as the likes of Kane, Alli and Cristian Eriksen, yet Swansea City ace Ki believes he is still being overlooked by pundits and observers alike.
“In my opinion he of course has to get more credit. I don’t say that Harry Kane and Dele Alli are worse than Son. They are all top players but I think Son has to get more credit in my opinion,” Ki told Sky Sports.
“His performance this season has been amazing. Everyone knows he plays one of the best games and is very consistent in every game and he scores many goals for Spurs which is not easy.”
Son joined Spurs in the summer of 2015 on a five-year deal, becoming the most expensive Asian player in football history. He has repaid the faith shown in him by manager Mauricio Pochettino, as after struggling in his debut campaign, he has since established himself as a key Tottenham player.
According to Spotrac, the South Korea international has a weekly salary of £85,000, and it will be interesting to see if Spurs make him their joint-top earner alongside Kane and Hugo Lloris in due course.
According to a separate article in Sky Sports, discussions over a new deal will take place in the coming weeks as Tottenham will look to extend Son’s contract beyond the 2020 expiry date.
