Swansea’s Graham Potter reportedly still in the frame for Brighton job despite League One scouting trip

Swansea City’s Graham Potter has been linked with the Brighton and Hove Albion job.

According to a report by Wales Online, Swansea City manager Graham Potter remains a strong favourite to take over the Brighton and Hove Albion job despite being seen on a scouting trip at Fratton Park.

The Englishman has been heavily linked with the vacant Brighton post after the Seagulls sacked Chris Hughton.

It has been reported by the BBC that Swansea are fighting to keep Potter at the Liberty Stadium as they intend to reject any Brighton advances. The 43-year-old only moved to the Welsh club last summer.

The speculation linking Potter to the Amex does not seem to be affecting the Swansea boss, as pictures emerged of him in attendance to watch Portsmouth and Sunderland’s League One semi-final encounter at Fratton Park.

It is suggested that Potter could be watching Portsmouth defender Matt Clarke who has been attracting interest from the Championship following a terrific campaign at the south coast club.

Swansea fans will be happy to know their boss is still planning summer recruitment at the Liberty Stadium, yet his future remains undecided with Premier League football at Brighton a big pull.

The Seagulls surprisingly axed Hughton despite the club reaching the FA Cup semi-final and preserving their Premier League status for another year with a 17th-place finish.

The football at the Amex Stadium, however, hasn’t been particularly entertaining and the Brighton board may feel Potter is the man to introduce a better style of football while helping the club establish in the top flight.
